Interior finish upgrades started with the children’s books and program area, where a successful Story Time Program had led to constrained space. BVH identified different shelving configurations to provide open floor space that allowed additional children and guardians to participate. New finishes throughout the area coupled with appropriately sized furniture help support the needs of the children’s library director.
Existing shelving was rotated 90 degrees to allow for better sight lines, daylight access, and open floor space for additional seating options. A highly flexible common space allows staff to reorganize furniture to accommodate any size of gathering. BVH added a two-sided gas fireplace in the commons area to reinforce the library as a place to hang out and feel comfortable.
