The Nebraska State Office Complex project for the Nebraska Departments of Revenue, Banking, and Insurance entails the planning, design and construction of a new state office/parking structure that contains two floors of garage parking for approximately 412 cars and two floors of office space totaling 112,027 net assignable square feet. BVH is also providing interior design, space planning/furnishings design and specifications, special systems design including telecommunications systems, audio/visual systems, security systems, acoustical engineering and food service planning. The new office building will be located directly over the geothermal well field that is providing heating/cooling to the State Capitol.
BVH is also leading master planning and facility program planning for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the Nebraska Department of Transportation. These two projects will develop long range plans for the agency’s 8,000+ employees and will evaluate options for addressing the space needs of current and future staff. As part of BVH’s collaborative planning process, workplace trends are being explored with stakeholders as well as obtaining staff feedback, demographic information and workplace preferences through departmental wide surveys.
All three projects are being planned and designed as benchmarks for the state as “Work Places of the 21st Century”. The projects will incorporate Well Building Standards for healthier workplaces. Flexible work place design encourages co-working and collaboration which is associated with better effectiveness, and more engaged employees; and more engaged employees are the key to business productivity and better customer experiences.
