Sarah joined BVH in August of 2022 after graduating from Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and is happy to be back with friends and family after finishing up her time in school.
Growing up, Sarah was always drawn to Interior Design and would constantly imagine and create floor plans of various spaces around her for fun. She also took a few design classes in high school, which drew her to the profession even more as she realized it was the perfect combination of creativity and technicality.
Outside of the studio, Sarah enjoys playing soccer, baking, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. She also loves trying new foods and is always looking for a new restaurant or coffee shop to check out!
What is your favorite place you’ve visited?
Barcelona, Spain. When I was in middle school I wrote a report on the architect, Antoni Gaudi, and was able to visit many of his works in Barcelona when I was older!
What is your area of interest or research?
Recently, I’ve enjoyed learning about biophilia and its impact on people in the built environment. Nature has always been something that inspires me, so I love to learn about different ways it can influence or be incorporated into design.
What inspires you?
My surroundings inspire me, whether that be nature, the built environment, or just people in my community. I love to go out and explore to come up with new ideas and gain experiences.
What is the most impactful thing you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Be curious. Design has so many facets and you can always keep learning. That’s why I love it so much–there’s always something new to challenge yourself with or be motivated by!
