Maryana joined the BVH Omaha studio in February of 2022. Her belief is that thoughtful design is to be lived inthere is an inherent emotional and aesthetic response to design that has a direct impact on well-being.

Born in Washington D.C. and raised in Maryland, Maryana’s passion for architecture and design began while attending a Summer program at Catholic University in her junior year of high school. She went on to attend college at the Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago, IL) where she received her Bachelor of Architecture degree. She later moved to Milan, IT where she completed her Master in Interior and Living Design from Domus Academy.

In her free time, Maryana loves to travel. When living in San Francisco, CA, she once took a road trip to Omaha, NE (and camped at 13 National Parks along the way).

What is your favorite place you’ve visited?
Both Blue Lagoons–one in Malta, and the other in Iceland!

What are you reading/watching/doing/listening to right now that is inspiring your work?
Currently, I’m reading ‘From Object to Experience: The New Culture of Architectural Design’ by Harry Francis Malgrave. I’m really interested in getting a better understanding of how the built environment directly impacts our neurological and sensory perception of space.

What is your favorite building or who is your favorite architect and why?
Scarpa is my first love, but having recently lived in Italy I learned about all these other incredible Italian designers: Ettore Sotssas, Gio Ponti, and Andrea Branzi.
