Ethan joined BVH’s Denver studio in the spring of 2026. A Montana native, he earned both his Bachelor and Master of Architecture from Montana State University before spending several years in Seattle. There, he worked on a variety of projects, including affordable housing, community centers, and mass-timber office spaces. In early 2025, Ethan and his wife relocated to Denver to embark on a new chapter closer to family.

Driven by the creative, problem-solving nature of architecture, Ethan finds deep purpose in the intersection of art and science. He views design as a powerful tool to shape the world and strengthen communities, always striving to create meaningful spaces that bolster both their inhabitants and the natural environment.

Outside the studio, Ethan loves exploring Colorado and traveling to new destinations with his wife, Rachel. A true maker at heart, he spends his free time on 3D animations, drawing, and the ongoing restoration of their mid-century modern fixer-upper. As an avid reader, he welcomes any and all book recommendations.

What is your favorite place you’ve visited?
Barcelona, Spain.

What inspires you?
I’m inspired by storytelling in all its forms, from literature to graphic media. I believe narrative is a powerful tool for conceptualizing a project; the process of translating a story into a physical form adds a unique layer of depth and intentionality to design

What is your favorite building, or who is your favorite architect, and why?
Peter Zumthor and Rem Koolhaas. I’m drawn to how they both explore the ‘sense of place’—Zumthor through materiality and atmosphere, and Koolhaas through the lens of urban context and social narrative.
