Northwestern College Welcome Center

The new Welcome Center greets visitors at the primary campus entry and acts as the face of Northwestern College. The program couples student services with faculty operation departments including Admissions, Financial Aid, Marketing and Communications, and Alumni. The vernacular is a modern transition of iconic elements like red brick and limestone accents and integrates the residential context of the neighborhood nearby.

Transparency is used as a primary design element. Exterior windows were strategically oriented on the primary facades to invite natural light into the community space during the day and allow for visual connectivity of a singular red glass branding wall at night. Interior glass walls accompany a high-volume lobby to provide a sense of openness in various offices and conference rooms. This gesture also supports clear building organization and way-finding.
