Meganne, a Sabetha, Kansas native, attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she received her Bachelors of Science in Design. She then joined the BVH Lincoln Studio in 2012 as an interior designer. After a move to Iowa where she continued to grow her skill set, Meganne and her family are back in Nebraska, where Meganne is based in BVH’s Omaha studio.
Meganne is fascinated with the built environment and how it can positively impact people’s lives in unexpected ways. She has discovered a true passion for designing libraries, which are no longer only places to check out books, but rather spaces to create, explore, and discover. The most rewarding part of Meganne’s job is seeing how these facilities can redefine a community and shape the literacy learning journey for children.
Outside of work, Meganne enjoys spending time with her husband and son. Together they love to travel, spend time outdoors, cook, and work on design projects around the house.
What is your favorite place you have visited?
I studied abroad in college and fell in love with Barcelona, Spain.
What inspires you?
I find myself inspired by how people interact with the built environment. As a designer, I have the precious opportunity to impact people at all stages of life, through the hills and valleys and milestones of personal growth. It is motivating to know that I can positively impact others on a daily basis.
What project are you most proud of?
I had the opportunity to work on the Joplin Public Library after a catastrophic F5 tornado devastated the city in 2011. Being able to witness resiliency and revitalization first hand was refreshing.
What is the most impactful thing you’ve learned over the course of your career?
A colleague once shared with me that in order to be successful, one must be comfortable with being uncomfortable. I constantly strive to get out of my comfort zone and to never stop evolving.
