Katherine Pickering, NCIDQ, IIDA

Interior Designer / Associate

kpickering@bvh.com

Kat became a part of the BVH team in 2017 following the completion of her Masters in Interior Architecture and Product Design from Kansas State University. Raised in Sioux City, IA, and now living in Lincoln, she is equal distance between her alma mater and hometown.

Due to the multi-faceted nature of her degree, Kat finds interest in the design of the interiors and exteriors of buildings, but also in both product and furniture design. Being able to connect these areas of design has been the greatest part of her design experience thus far. It has allowed her to immerse herself into different types of design.

Outside of work, Kat enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching Kansas State football, and traveling as much as possible.

What is your favorite place you have visited?
Mad tie between Barcelona, Spain and Yellowstone National Park

What is inspiring you right now?
I currently have been able to explore and attempt to implement custom, smaller scale designs into larger projects. It’s a passion of mine to understand how small scale design, such as installations, furniture, and product, can amplify an environment. This truly allows for the understanding of how each scale of design is related and how the interactions of scale can affect an overall design.

What is your area of interest or research?
My interest lies in understanding and connecting different types and scales of design to create and develop holistic environments.
