Emily Block

Interior Design Intern

Emily joined BVH in January 2020. Originally from Hastings, NE, Emily’s interest in design has led her to Kansas State University where she is currently pursuing a Masters of Interior Architecture and Product Design.

Emily’s interest in architecture surfaced in high school after wanting to be a teacher for most of her life. That passion for education still influences her designs. To Emily, design is about being adaptable and finding new and innovative ways to solve problems and improve the world around you.

Emily is lucky to have a supportive family, and is excited to be back in Nebraska to be closer to her mom, dad, brother, aunts & uncles, cousins, and grandparents. When she is not busy with school, Emily enjoys creating anything from small sewing projects to shop projects and spending time with friends.

What is your favorite place you have visited?
I had the opportunity to study and travel in Italy during Summer 2019 and the architecture and culture were incredible.

How do you engage with your community?
I have spent time working as a teacher’s aide in a preschool and as a para in an elementary school. Both have been great opportunities to experience my college town from outside of the perspective of a university campus.

What inspires you?
It is inspiring for me to think about the many different perspectives, values, and strengths people bring to the table.
