Anna joined BVH summer of 2025. Originally from right outside Washington D.C., Anna graduated from the University of Virginia with her Bachelors in Architecture and a double minor in Studio Art and Global Sustainability. She is currently pursuing her M.Arch degree at CU Denver.
As a child, Anna always had the most fun in math, science, and art classes. Architecture turned out to be the perfect career path, as it operates at the intersection of creativity and the more technical side of building.
Outside of the studio, Anna loves to run, bike, and ski. She has one marathon under her belt and hopes to begin training for the IronMan. You can also find her with her adopted 3-year-old cat, Fitzgeraldina (Fitzy, for short)—named after the author of The Great Gatsby.
What is your favorite place you’ve visited?
Agra, India. I was able to take my final research studio during undergrad there and it was a wonderful experience.
What is your area of interest or research?
I am really interested in how to design with the goal of reducing the amount of embodied carbon and lowering the impact of the building’s footprint.
What inspires you?
I love looking at art, specifically paintings, and finding the connection between them and the built environment. I think it is really beautiful when buildings use work of art as precedents.
What is your favorite building or who is your favorite architect and why?
My favorite building that I have visited is Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, France. Normally, Gothic architecture is not my style of choice, but I love the intricacy of the stained glass as well as how the colors are accentuated by the height of the vaulted ceilings.
