Alex Turner, AIA

Architect

A native of Crete, Nebraska, Alex began his career at BVH in 2014 when he was looking for a smaller firm with an engaging, creative culture. His passion for architecture stems from a deep appreciation for how spaces can affect human behavioral and emotional responses while having a profound impact on day-to-day functions.

Additionally, Alex loves working on projects that go beyond impacting its users and have the ability to transform the community as a whole. When Alex approaches a design project, he believes that it is critical to have a deep understanding of the client’s goals and objectives. This understanding is what allows form, function, materiality, and beauty to coalesce into a final product that is fully representative of the individual characteristics of each unique client.

When he’s not in the studio or on site, you can find Alex kayaking, hiking, biking, camping or doing just about anything outdoors. A natural explorer, Alex has travelled to Asia, Europe and Africa and intends to globetrot as much as possible in the future.

What inspires you?
Our limited time on earth and how to get the most out of it.

What project are you most proud of?
YES, because the main form throughout the space becomes an element that kids can make/modify as their own.

What are you watching right now that’s inspiring your work?
I am watching Planet Earth S2 right now, and seeing the beauty in nature can help to influence the built environment, and enhance humanity’s interaction with it.
