Zach Soflin

Architect / Associate

Since 2011, Zach has worked on various projects. Prior to joining BVH, Zach received his master of architecture from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Following graduation, he joined BVH, taking special interest in computational applied design and research. He works on projects of various sizes, applying divergent design solutions anchored in research and data-driven analysis.

In addition, Zach is a husband and father to three little girls. He also teaches a course on parametric modeling in design at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

What is the favorite place you have visited?
San Francisco, California.

What are you optimistic about?
I am optimistic about the future of our buildings and what technology-applied research will enable us to do.

How do you engage your community?
I currently sit on the board of directors of the Pregnancy Center of Lincoln, helping individuals and families through the trials of unplanned pregnancy.

What is your area of interest or research?
I focus my research on the application of computational methods and how we can use objective data in architecture to optimize form, improve building performance and perfect experiences.

What is your inspiration?
I draw inspiration from God as architect, and thereby biology and its remarkable restraint. Each member beautiful yet functional. No use for frivolity.
