Architect / Principal

Prior to founding the Omaha office of BVH, George worked in architectural offices in Hawaii, Puerto Rico and New York state. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Architecture from which he received the UNL Distinguished Alumni Award and is a recipient of the Harry F. Cunningham Gold Medal Award from the Nebraska Chapter AIA.

George has been responsible for some of the firm’s major clients and projects and has lectured at the University of Nebraska, Kansas State University and St. Petersburg State University in Russia, where he served as a consultant with the Citizens Democracy Corps. His work has been published nationally and internationally and received more than 17 AIA awards plus civic and governmental recognitions. He believes that design excellence is only possible through lonely pursuit, made possible with teamwork and collaboration.

He has been a consistent advocate for BVH’s historic resources, which is evident in the firm’s work portfolio. He is an adviser emeritus with the National Trust for Historic Preservation and has served on numerous preservation boards and commissions. George has written and edited books and articles regarding the importance of protecting our built environment and, on the side, a few books of poetry.
