Gary Bowen, FAIA

Architect / Principal

A Nebraska native, Gary joined BVH more than 40 years ago after work stints in London; Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; Quincy, Illinois; and Omaha. His project experience includes a wide variety of project types in locations from coast to coast. After attending Wayne State College for a year, Gary received a Bachelor’s of Architecture from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He returned 10 years later and received a Master of Architecture.

His list of notable projects include Omaha’s Gene Leahy Mall, St. Francis of Assissi RC church in Des Moines, Iowa, and custom-designed homes in Arizona, Colorado, California and Nebraska. Evident in his work is the notion of expressing building materials and systems openly and in the incorporation of arts and crafts.

Gary believes that public service is an integral part of a successful professional life as evidenced by his involvement in many civic organizations. Watercolor painting and golf provide opportunities for relaxation outside the studio.
